Student Dormitories
Iwate University has four student dormitories in the Ueda area (on campus) and the Takamatsu area (approximately 2 km from the university) as detailed below. All dormitories are mixed, with international students living with Japanese students, and as they are managed by the students who live there, they cultivate independence, sociality, and an international outlook through communal life, in contrast to living alone such as in an apartment. The following is an overview of the student dormitories:

Common service charge...... Jikeiryo: 500 yen/month; Dohoryo, Hokuoryo and Kobairyo: 1000 yen/month
Monthly utilities bill...... around 5,000 yen
There may also be management fees for the dormitory council in addition to the above.
